 Nice Hammock, But....Mar 08, 2011

I bought this hammock for my back yard. It arrived in great shape and in a timely manner. I've had it set up for about a month now, and so far it has performed well and remained in good shape overall. However, that being said, it has begin to fade some. One star off for that. Of course, we live in South Florida and the sun here is murder on patio furniture. Also, I'm a big guy and it has so far stood the test of carrying both me and my wife on several occassions. The jury is still out, but its looking good so far...
The jury is back, and I have no choice but to significantly lower my previous rating. It is now July, only 5 months since we purchased this hammock as noted in my previous review. Sadly, this hammock has already found its way into the trash bin. The fading quickly accelerated after my last post until the stripes eventually disappeared completely. Then, as if that wasn't already bad enough, the rapid deterioration continued as the hammock began to literally come apart at the seams. Stuffing escaping everywhere, seam threads blowing in the wind, shredded and dried out shards of nylon attacking any would be user, cats and dogs sleeping together... Ok, there weren't any cats and dogs, but you get the idea. Anyway, my new rating is just 1 Star... Its just not worth the money and disappointment. :(

I bought this product for several reasons. My old string hammock fell apart and I was looking for a cushioned one to replace it. The price was right and the color striping was right for my yard. I looked a long time online and at the box stores but could never find anything quite suitable. Actually, you can't beat the price anywhere..$30 bucks...problem is shipping is almost as expensive (ouch!)but overall can't beat the cost as these hammocks go for over $100 easy. I have had this product for over a month now and I like it. It is comfortable and looks good. Problem is I don't use it a whole lot. I also have an added issue with perhaps not having the right hammock stand. Mine is a green steel one that is too long for the hammock. If I adjust the tension on the chains tightening them, it sits up too high and it is difficult to get on and off the hammock. If I loosen the tension, it sits too low and when you climb on, it sags and you are inches from the ground. The quality of the hammock is fine and for my needs it works. Bottom line...it's a $30 hammock that works but make sure you have the right hammock stand.

The hammock was too long for the frame I purchased with it and with the first use, some of the threads across the hammock broke. I had to tighten the ropes at each end to make the hammock fit the frame.
